Meeting minutes for 2017
January 2017
The January 8, 2017 meeting which was held at the Holiday Inn in Strongsville, Ohio with Ralph Zarnick, president, called the meeting to order. The minutes of the November 13, 2016 and the treasurer’s report were read and accepted. Sunshine report; the death of Rudi Kamper Old Business.
---Stan Kaufman was thanked for organizing the Twinsburg “Clock
Day” which was held on November 20. New Business. ---It was mentioned that there will be a Clock Day at the Natural History Museum on Feb. 25 and Stan Kaufman will give final details, to all that are involved, at a later date. ---Also was mentioned that Chagrin Falls Historical Society wants us to do a Clock Day with them and Jeff Ring will give details at our next meeting. ---Brian Pizor, Regional Chairman, talked about the regional and suggested that we have a 50/50 to try and offset the advertising cost. There will also be a Donation Table for items to be auctioned off with proceeds going to Chapter 28. Program of the Day
Doug Rinearson introduced the program, “Banjo Clocks” from the
2016 Regional Exhibit. The presentation was narrated by Tom Barrett. Old Business. ---Stan Kaufman was thanked for organizing the Twinsburg “Clock Day” which was held on November 20. New Business. ---Stan Kaufman told us that the “Clock Day”, at the Natural History Museum in Cleveland on Feb. 25, was well attended. ---Jeff Ring told us that the “Clock Day” at the Solon Historical Society which was held on January 17 was a big success. ---The Chagrin Falls Historical Society wants us to do a “Clock Day” on June 11 from 12 noon to 4 p.m.. ---Brian Pizor, Regional Chairman, talked about the regional and suggested that we have a 50/50 raffle to try and offset the advertising cost. There will also be a Donation Table for items to be auctioned off with proceeds going to Chapter 28. These items MUST be of good quality and running. ---The Regional will be needing volunteers. If you have a couple of hours to spare, contact Dave Allen. ---There will be a FREE table at the Regional. ---The secretary was asked to send out an inquiry to the members to find out if anyone would care to donate a clock or watch for a Special Silent Auction. The money would be used to defray costs. Program of the Day ---“A Video Tour of the Willard House and Clock Museum”. The museum is located in North Grafton, Massachusetts and follows the Willard family from the early 1700’s through the middle of the 1800’s. A very interesting and informative presentation.
Old Business. New Business. The report of the 2017 North Coast Regional was read. We did make a little money, but not as we had hoped. The discussion on finances went on for a while. It was decided that we will not to talk about finances until the check book gets below a certain level. It was seconded and passed. Program

A DVD on” How to Buy
a Watchmakers Clockmakers Lathe” by Harvey Schimidt. September 2017 Jeff Ring mentioned that the Chagrin Falls Historical Society donated $90.00 to the chapter. And he also mentioned that both Solon and Chagrin Falls Historical Societies would like us back again for clock days. Sunshine Report- Dick Sims recovering from knee surgery. Tom Borkowski mentioned that the library list of dvd’s can now be downloaded on your computer. Frank DelGrecco brought up that maybe we should do some live programs instead of always dvd’s. Meeting was adjourned and we watched the dvd, "Opinions on American Clockmakers" by Chris Bailey.
Old Business – None New Business – Tom Borkowski announced that a pre-2018 Regional planning meeting will be held at the Twinsburg Historical Society at 2pm on Saturday, December 9. Coffee and pastries will be served. - There will be a “Clock Day” at the Twinsburg Historical Society on November 19 from 2pm -5pm. We will also need volunteers. - There will also be a “Clock Day” held on January 21 from 12pm to 4pm at the Solon Historical Society. - Chagrin Falls would also like a “Clock Day”, but details are incomplete.

Chip Castoldi presented an interactive demonstration on glass cutting and
finishing. Chip is an experienced glass finisher and glazer with over 30
years of experience in the field. Chip comes to us from Avonmore PA. Chip
has been giving lectures and demonstrations throughout the area to other
chapters. Chip instructed us on the safe handling of glass, techniques of
cutting, finishing and fitting of glass applicable to most flat glassed
clock cases. This was a hands-on demonstration. Several members stayed
after the presentation to have questions answered. A very good educational
