November 2019

REGIONAL WRAP UP

At the regular meeting of Chapter 28, with Doug Rinerson presiding, the main topic and Program of the Day dealt with the results and discussion of the 2019 Regional.

Old Business

***The 2019 North Coast Regional was held at the Akron Hilton-Fairlawn and was a success.

***We sold out all tables and could have sold at least 15 more.

***A majority of comments from attendees was positive. They liked the time of year and the location.

We will be having the 2020 Regional there and will be using the Presentation Room from this year as table space, giving us approximately 15 more tables capacity.

***The Akron Visitors Bureau promised to provide more exposure next year.

New Business

***This years Regional made money but the year will be in the red due to the costs incurred at our meetings.

Motions were made and carried for the following:

     1) We will eliminate the May and November meetings due to conflicts with several Regionals and the National. This alone should put us back in the black for the year.

    2) Doug Rinearson and Brad Howell will check with VFWs in our region to see what their fees are and if breakfast/brunch is offered and prices. Earl Harlement from Buckeye Chapter 23 mentioned at our Regional that they have moved their bimonthy meetings to several different VFWs in their area. It has saved them a lot of money and the accommodations are good.

    3) We will start the meetings at 9 AM rather than 8 to help those that travel a long way to attend. We will also negotiate with the hotel regarding fees since we are eliminating an hour of time.

***The annual Twinsburg Historical Society "Roadshow" will be held on Sunday November 24th.  Members are encouraged to attend to help with identifying/ evaluating watches and clocks for the public.
